Galaxy’s Edge is scheduled for next year, but what about the Star Wars hotel?

Updated: May 16

Disney fans know that the Star Wars-themed land, Galaxy’s Edge, is on its way  in 2019, but even more surrounded in mystery is the hotel that’s set to be adjacent to it.

East of World Drive, to the south of Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, is where the new hotel is undergoing construction. Not a lot of details are known, and just a little bit more is left in the rumor mill, but it’s known to be directly connected to the new land in Disney’s theme park. Guests will able to exit their room and head straight into the new land in the park, creating a seamless transition from one to the other.

The hotel will have limited parking along with a valet parking service, but it may not be much of an issue should Disney want to keep the hotel hidden beneath the sightlines of the surrounding trees. That’ll keep the hotel only a few stories tall, although it’s not known how many rooms it’ll house.

The immersive, what’s rumored to be a 3-to-4 day stay, might just be an indicator of what is to come for Disney. Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, said at the time of the hotel’s announcement that this was the beginning of a new project for Disney, one that is set to blur the lines of storytelling and reality. If the Star Wars hotel is a success, and it is hard to imagine it’ll be anything but, guests who are fans of other franchises can expect to see more of this in the future.

The experience, unfortunately, has no name or opening date yet, but those expecting it to be open with the start of Galaxy’s Edge might have to wait just a little longer.
