Fans of Walt Disney World® Resort know that every year they have to say goodbye to some favorite old attractions and shows to make way for new ones. While Disney announces closures throughout the year, a few are already known ahead of time, including some makeovers to existing shows.
IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth
During its 20thyear of running, the iconic fireworks spectacular will come to an end to make way for a new temporary show, which will celebrate Epcot®’s storied music and history, and an eventual permanent show that’s set to focus around Disney music around the world.
The show’s departure might be as tough as the ending of Wishes Nighttime Spectacular, but if the arrival of Happily Ever After is any indication, guests will be in for an incredible treat when both of the new shows begin.
O Canada
This World Showcase show, set in a 360 degree theater, is the first of two to close and get a makeover this year. Not many details are known, and while the current show still holds up to an extent, its update might be indicative of bigger changes for the park, with at least one new attraction coming to World Showcase, a Guardians of the Galaxy-themed coaster on its way and a total makeover of Future World set in planning.
Reflections of China
Much like the O Canada show, Reflections of China is another Circle-Vision film that’s up for a makeover. Unlike O Canada, which is merely being updated, the Chinese pavilion is getting a completely new show. There’s no confirmation as to when exactly Reflection of China will close, but with O Canada’s update on the way, it would make since for the show in China to follow suit.
